Meet Our Board Members
The DOGS executive team is composed of dedicated graduate students who are committed to representing and supporting the graduate student community at Dalhousie University.
Sigma Jahan
I'm Sigma, an aspiring researcher, problem-solver, and advocate for graduate students. As President of DOGS, I believe leadership is about action, not titles. Whether it's pushing for better student support, organizing impactful initiatives, or navigating the chaos of academia, I'm all in. Outside of Academia, I am a Cat Mom (my fur baby's name is Lulu). I enjoy traveling, maybe a bit too much!
Mehil Shah
I'm Mehil, a CS PhD student at Dalhousie University. As the VP of Finance and Operations, I keep our society running smoothly by managing financials, auditing, taxation, and daily operations. Outside the academic world, you'll see me finding tactics on the chessboard or playing FIFA.
Saurabhsingh Rajput
Hi, I'm Saurabh (or Saurav…idk, but at this point, I'm too afraid to ask!), a PhD student researching ways to make AI and software systems more environmentally sustainable by enhancing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. I balance this with my role as VP of External Advocacy for DOGS, where I focus on amplifying grad student voices.
Mengnan (Mark) Xu
I'm Mark, a PhD student in the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University. My work focuses on understanding breast cancer and bacterial infections to develop innovative treatments. As VP of Academic Affairs, I am dedicated to enhancing the academic experience for graduate students. Beyond research, I enjoy learning new skills, staying updated with tech advancements, and exploring nature.
Md Asif Hasan Anik
I am Asif, a PhD student in Civil Engineering. I research to find innovative, technical solutions that improve how we live, work, and travel. As a strong advocate for student voices, I actively volunteer in roles that promote community building and student welfare. Currently, I represent Engineering, Architecture, and Planning students with DOGS, where I work to ensure our voices are heard and our needs are met.
Bimpe Ayoola
I'm Bimpe, a PhD student from the Faculty of Computer Science. My research focuses on social sustainability in software engineering. I'm passionate about science, technology, and creating spaces where students can thrive. As the Director of Science and Computer Science at DOGS, my goal is to support graduate students in scientific research, collaboration, and professional growth.
Pingping Wang
I am Pingping, a PhD student in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics. As the Director of Health and Medical Sciences, I am excited to be a strong advocate for medical science graduate students, ensuring their unique academic and research needs are met in our community. Away from the lab, I am a traveler who enjoys capturing the beauty of new places through photography.
